PASAY CITY -- On Monday, April 25, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go sent aid to hundreds of low-income residents in Nasugbu and Calaca, Batangas as part of the senator’s commitment to boost the living conditions of pandemic-affected Filipinos and help provide a more comfortable life for all.

“Walang tigil ang ating paglilingkod. Pinag-aaralan pa rin po namin sa gobyerno ang lahat ng pwedeng gawin upang mapabilis pa ang serbisyo natin sa ating mga kababayan kahit na nasa gitna pa tayo ng krisis,” Go said in his video message.

“Para naman sa amin ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, basta kapakanan ng mga mahihirap, lalo na ‘yung mga walang matakbuhan, ipaglalaban namin 'yan hanggang sa huli,” he added.

Go’s staff distributed meals and masks to 333 residents at the Brgy. 2 Multipurpose Hall in Nasugbu and Brgy. 4 Covered Court in Calaca. To help curb the spread of COVID-19, the team conducted the activities in small batches.

The senator also provided phablets, bicycles and new pairs of shoes to some residents. Meanwhile, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed financial assistance.

Continuing his message, Go, who is the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, reminded the public to continue following the necessary health preventive measures against COVID-19.

He then urged the eligible beneficiaries to get vaccinated and boosted to hasten the country’s return to normalcy. He also reassured that the government continues to roll out vaccines to more remote areas to ensure that no Filipino is left behind towards recovery.

“Sa aking mga kababayan, ingat kayo palagi ha, andito lang kami ni Presidente Duterte na handang magserbisyo sa inyong lahat. Mayroon lang kaming kaunting tulong na pinadala sa inyo,” expressed Go.

“Hindi po namin kayang mag-isa po ito. Kailangan nating magbayanihan, kailangan po nating magmalasakit po sa ating kapwa Pilipino,” he added.

An adopted son of CALABARZON, Go reached out to those with health concerns and other medical conditions to avail of the services from any of the Malasakit Centers in the province located at Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City and Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery. Nationwide, there are already 151 operational Malasakit Centers that have assisted over three million Filipino patients.

The Malasakit Center brings together DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, under one roof to provide particularly poor and indigent patients convenient access to medical assistance to cover their hospital and medical-related expenses. Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act.

To help improve public service delivery in the province, Go, as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported the rehabilitation of roads and construction of multipurpose buildings in several barangays in Calaca and Nasugbu.

He also supported the construction of more multipurpose buildings in Alitagtag, Balayan, Batangas City, Ibaan, Lemery, Lipa City, Mabini, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, San Nicolas, Santo Tomas and Taal; concretion of farm-to-market roads in Agoncillo, Laurel, Nasugbu and Tuy; acquisition of ambulance units in Ibaan and Lemery; and the acquisition of multipurpose vehicles in Lipa City and San Juan.

“Makikita mo po ang Pilipino po ‘pag nagtutulungan kakayanin po nating malampasan itong krisis na ating kinakaharap. Hindi po namin kaya ni Pangulong Duterte ito. Kailangang namin ang tulong ng bawat Pilipino,” Go reiterated.
