CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Social Development Committee (SDC)-10 of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Council (RDC) presented its accomplishments for the period 2019-2021 and recognized the commitment of its members and outgoing officers for the term 2019-2022 during its second quarter meeting, June 2, at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 Main Conference Room, here, and via Zoom video conferencing.
During said meeting, the committee members validated and endorsed to the RDC-10 the 2021 Regional Development Report of the social development sector in consideration of the thematic chapters of the RDP 2017-2022 Midterm Update.
The Committee also supported and endorsed to the council the top ten priority Social Development Agenda, as well as, the priority cross-cutting/enabling strategies recommended by the National Social Development Committee for the next administration.
The top ten priority social development agenda are focused on education, health and nutrition, housing, social protection, social registry, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs, food and nutrition security, and pandemic resilience.
Tangub City Mayor Jennifer W. Tan, the outgoing SDC-10 Chairperson, thanked the committee’s officers and members for their efforts and commitment in forwarding the government’s social sector agenda in the region.
“My term as SDC-10 Chairperson is ending but Philip and I will always be here supporting the committee and the RDC-10,” she said in a video message, referring to her husband Misamis Occidental Gov. Philip T. Tan, outgoing chairperson of the RDC-10 Full Council.
The meeting, chaired by SDC-10 Co-Chairperson Jaime Rafael U. Paguio, was the final committee meeting for the term 2019-2022 before the RDC-1- reorganization in the second semester of the year.
Also discussed in the meeting were the updates on the expanded face-to-face classes for basic, higher, and technical-vocational education; the status of PhilHealth utilization of funds in hospitals and other health facilities in Region 10; the 2022 Nutrition Month Campaign; and the Smoking Cessation Program of the Lung Center of the Philippines.
