BJMP-10 conducts mass destruction of contrabands

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-10 conducted the mass destruction of contrabands inside the regional office ground, June 27.

The destroyed contrabands were an accumulation of prohibited things that were confiscated during the intensified greyhound operations conducted in all jails regionwide from 2021 up to present.

JCSupt Neil R. Avisado, BJMP regional director, emphasized the importance of regular conduct of greyhound operations to keep jails free from contrabands that may endanger the lives of the persons deprived of liberty (PDL) and personnel as well.

“Whoever is caught aiding in the entry of these contrabands inside our jail premises shall be punished accordingly and those who help us curb this menace shall be awarded, too. We will never get tired of doing this over and over until we are able to get rid of these contrabands completely,” he said.

The BJMP coordinated with the local office of barangay Lumbia and the media prior to the activity to promote transparency and accountability during the destruction process.

The activity was led by Avisado, together with Assistant Regional Director for Administration Jsupt William T Manengyao and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jsupt Samuel E Palionay Jr. (BJMP-10/PIA-10)
