CAMIGUIN (PIA)--Among families in Camiguin whose per capita income is not sufficient to meet their basic food and non-food needs or the poverty incidence, was estimated at 17.7 percent during the first semester of 2021.
This translates to about 3,900 poor families who lived below the poverty threshold estimated at P11,805, on the average, for a family of five per month in the first semester of 2021.
Meanwhile, subsistence incidence among families in the province whose income is not enough to meet even the basic food needs, was recorded at 7.0 percent or about 1,600 families whose income is below the monthly food threshold of P8,280 for a family of five for the same period.
Poverty incidence among the population for the same period was estimated at 24.5 percent which is equivalent to around 22,800 poor individuals. Meanwhile, subsistence incidence among the population was estimated at 10.1 percent or about 9,400 individuals who cannot afford even their basic food needs.
