DOST-XI assisted products showcased at 2022 World Food Expo

DAVAO CITY - The Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) showcased its Halal, Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI)-produced complementary foods and Food Processing Innovation Center (FPIC) products at the 2022 World Food Expo (WOFEX), which features different local and foreign cuisines, food service equipment and supplies last June 24-26 at SMX Convention Center, Davao City. 


The WOFEX is the biggest and the most influential food show in the Philippines, joined by over 450 food manufacturers, food processors, supermarket owners, caterers, chefs, entrepreneurs, exporters, importers, and other leading industry suppliers. 


DOST XI exhibited products from FPIC such as Bukolyte, a spray-dried coconut powder made from young coconut water and meat and various flavors of ready-to-drink juices such Calamansi-Ginger, Calamansi-Blue ternate and Calamansi-Camote tops. 




The event also showcased various Halal cacao products of MS3 Agri-Ventures Enterprise, the industry partner of DOST XI and the University of Southeastern Philippines in an ongoing research on Halal Blockchain Technology. MS3 products include raw cacao products and Halal dark chocolates made from their own cacao tablea. 


Another product displayed was the Rice Mongo Crunchies or "MORITOS," a deep-fried snack made from rice and mongo flour with a similar taste and appearance to a cereal. DOST-FNRI primarily produced this product to address malnutrition in different parts of the country. 


WOFEX, now in its 22nd year, promises to continue its service to the local Food and Business industry after two years of being halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 


The conduct of the expo served as an excellent avenue for the DOST XI-assisted products to be showcased and promoted to trade visitors.   (PR/DOST XI S&T Information and Promotion)
