DSWD-10 validates 4Ps beneficiaries

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Workers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 continue to validate beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in northern Mindanao to determine whether more than 34,000 beneficiaries are still eligible for the program after 4Ps found out they were not enumerated in the Listahanan 3.

4Ps Regional Project Coordinator Kenneth Haze Sanchez Lustre said the activity complies with Section 5 of the Republic Act 11310 or the 4Ps Act that states, "DSWD shall select qualified household beneficiaries of 4Ps using a standardized targeting system," which is the Listahanan Program.

Section 5 further states that DSWD shall conduct a regular validation of beneficiary targeting every three years.

"If we found out they are no longer eligible for the program, we will put them in the exit process," said Sanchez.

Based on the approved transition plan, exiting beneficiaries will be formally turned over to the local government unit.

Under Section 6 of the 4Ps Act, it provides that eligible 4Ps beneficiaries are those classified as poor and near-poor of the Listahanan program with members who are aged 0-18 years old or have members who are pregnant during the registration and are willing to comply with the conditions specified by the law.

It further stated that those classified as poor and near-poor should be farmers, fisherfolks, homeless families, indigenous peoples, those in the informal sectors, and those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, including those in areas without electricity.

4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and a human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfers to poor households for a maximum period of seven years to improve the health, nutrition, and education aspect of their lives.

Compliant daycare and elementary 4Ps monitored children will receive P300 a month, P500 a month for enrolled Junior High School grantees, and P700 for enrolled senior high school beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, health and nutrition grants, including the Family Development Session, shall not be lower than P700 monthly. The health grant is a fixed amount and does not depend on the number of members of the household.

Northern Mindanao has 262,588 active beneficiaries as of June 1, 2022. (DSWD-10/PIA-10)
