CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia directed all police units to beef up security measures and anti-crime operations in all tourist destinations in the region.

The MIMAROPA top cop issued the order in consonance with the directive of the PNP Officer-In-Charge Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. to amplify police visibility in tourist areas to ensure that local and foreign tourists are safe.

PBGEN Hernia added that the intensified police presence and anti-crime operations are aimed at preventing crimes and ensuring that police intervention is in place to diffuse other lawless incidents.

He also reminded the public to refrain from posting their vacation itineraries on social media so that the criminals will never have the opportunity to commit crimes during their travel or vacation where their homes are left unattended.

Police units were also tasked to work closely with the Department of Tourism or their counterparts in the localities to produce and distribute information and education materials on safety tips for tourists.

“I have also directed all field commanders and unit leaders to maintain strict adherence to the proper guidelines to stop the possible resurgence of COVID-19 cases in all tourist destinations in the region”, PBGEN Hernia added. (PR)
