BALINGOAN, Misamis Oriental (PIA)--The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-10, through its Provincial Fisheries Office of Misamis Oriental (PFO MisOr) handed over 100 units of Fiberglass Reinforcement Plastic (FRP) boats complete with marine engines and underwater fittings to 110 fisherfolk beneficiaries in 10 municipalities, July 22.
In collaboration with the office of Misamis Oriental’s First District Rep. Christian Unabia, the P5.1-M ‘Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko’ concept project under the Fiberglass Pagbabago Livelihood Development Program was carried out to qualified and deserving fisherfolk smoothly.
In accordance with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and BFAR-10’s mandate to improve fisheries productivity towards food security and climate change adaptation, the ‘Bangka Ko, Gawa Ko’ program aims to provide livelihood assistance through the provision of FRP boats for the community and also encourage cooperation among the fisherfolks.
The fisherfolk recipients from the municipalities of Balingasag, Salay, Lagonglong, Binuangan, Sugbongcogon, Balingoan, Talisayan, Medina, Magsasay, and Gingoog city were capacitated in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the said FRP boats aimed to efficiently transfer the technology to the beneficiaries.
