DOLE-10 boosts MisOr hospitality sect on tripartism and new wage order

Misamis Oriental (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 through its Misamis Oriental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Or. PFO) spearheaded the first face-to-face quarterly meeting of the Industry Tripartite Council (ITC) –Resorts, Hotels, and Restaurants (RHR) since the COVID-19 pandemic on 2020 at Duka Bay, Medina, June 23.

DOLE-10 Mis. Or. PFO Chief Errol A. Natividad said the event convened 60 council members from 30 RHRs to update current laws and regulations on the RHR industry in the ‘new normal’ of doing business, while also addressing their various issues and concerns.

Highlights of the discussions were the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board’s (RTWPB)-10 advocacy on the recent Wage Order No. RX-21, increasing the minimum wage order in the private sector which took effect on June 18, 2022.

“Dako kaayo akong kalipay kay sa taod-taod na panahon nga naka face-to-face meeting usab ang council kay derecho mapangitaan ug resolusyon among mga concerns. Nakatabang gyud ni na panagtipok kay naay sharing of best practices na mas mapalambo ang among mga negosyo ug nakahibalo mi sa mga bag-ong pamala-od sa Wage Order,” ITC-RHR member and Twin Hearts management representative Richard Caviltes said.

(I am very satisfied that the council was able to meet face-to-face after a long while so we can immediately address our concerns through resolutions. The sharing of best practices is very beneficial for business improvements and the learning sessions on wage order)

Meanwhile, ITC-RHR member and Duka Bay Resort staff Margie Fullante expressed appreciation for DOLE-10’s ITC program and that the workers’ or labor sector’s concerns were heard and given importance.

ITC-RHR Chairman Greg Pallugna thanked DOLE-10, and RTWPB-10 for the advocacy boost.

The DOLE promotes the creation of ITCs pursuant to the International Labor Organization’s Convention No. 144 which institutionalized tripartism by providing a continuing forum for tripartite advisement and consultation empowering workers’ and employers organizations, enhancing their respective rights, attaining industrial peace, and improving productivity.
