Normin cops sustain law enforcement ops, crime rates decrease

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 Regional Director Benjamin Acorda Jr, disclosed that northern Mindanao has decreased its crime rate from January to June 2022 compared to last year.

In his statement, PRO-10 has become more aggressive in maintaining the peace and order status in the region despite the slight glitches they have encountered.

Based on the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD)-10’s data, the crime rate has shown a significant decrease of 755 incidents or 9.40 percent recorded from January to June 2022 compared to January to June 2021.

PRO-10 arrested a total of 147 wanted persons in the last Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) that led to the arrest of several high-ranking wanted persons.

PRO-10 has also accomplished more than 921 operations conducted in the campaign against anti-illegal drugs with 1,147 total arrested, and 4,193.553 grams of shabu confiscated with an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP28.5 million from January to June 2022.

About 225 personalities were also arrested in the campaign against loose firearms with 1,848 total operations conducted and 387 total confiscated, surrendered, and recovered.

“The significant decrease of crime rate in this region is attributed to the PRO10’s intensified and continuous conduct of Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO), One-Time Big-Time Operation (OTBT), and other Law Enforcement Operations. Thus, with its significant decrease, it is only an indication that our Law Enforcement Operation is successful,” Acorda shared.

The regional director added that despite having all the operational activities, PRO-10 also implemented Police Community Relations regionwide, from cities down to remote areas purposely to gain the trust of the community.

“Lahat kami dito sa (All of us in) PRO-10, we will not stop in our job to keep this region a peaceful one. Kahit na may against o may mag criticize sa atin, this is not a hindrance for us para hindi natin magawa ang ating trabaho (Despite false claims that we are inactive this is not a hindrance for us to follow our duties). The allegations of some individuals that your police in region 10 are inactive; are baseless and unfounded. Our records speak for themselves. We will continue on our law enforcement operations and eliminate all forms of criminalities.” he said. (RPIO PRO10/PIA-10)
