CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-10 hosted a two-day training on basic journalism for their personnel, August 11-12, at the DICT 10 Regional Office in Carmen, here.
This training is organized in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-10, to upskill DICT employees on social media, basic news writing, and photography.
Being an institution that primarily advocates for the national information and communications technology agenda, such skills are useful and relevant on how DICT-10 appropriately presents its existing programs and projects to the general public and reach target audiences online.
DICT-10 Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi personally attended the activity and actively joined the participants during workshops. "I’m really into enhancing our capabilities through trainings. I want us to be equipped with how to do things properly for us to be able to improve our current methods on how we do things," she said.
She further expressed her gratitude to PIA-10’s leadership for positively accepting the invitation to be the training workshop’s resource speakers.
More than 30 handpicked personnel from DICT’s provincial offices across northern Mindanao are present, hoping that the training workshop will bring fresh insights into their current roles. The training has been an avenue to share and exchange their ideas, especially when it comes to thinking about creative ways to promote existing DICT 10 programs and projects to the community.
In recent months, DICT-10 has been capacitating its employees, improving methods, and making sure that the regional office's output incorporates best practices on the timely and proper use of different tools for proper and effective information dissemination. (Maria Jelin/DICT-10/PIA-10)
