DAVAO ORIENTAL--- The Task Force Bantay Karne recently made rounds on several establishments and meat stalls to ensure that meats being sold in the market were of high quality and free from the African Swine Fever contamination.
TF Bantay Karne led by the City of Mati Veterinary Office together with National Meat Inspection Services Region XI (NMIS XI), and LGU Sanitary Inspection of the City Health Office conducted the inspection in several establishments that sold fresh and processed meat.
There were 26 meat related establishments and 2 cold storages visited by the team in which 10 of them were given warnings and reminders — Inday & Milky Meat Shop, Magtuba Dressed Chicken, Galindo Meat Stall, Tayag Dressed Chicken, NCCC Supermarket, ER Supermall, Warehouse Club Inc., Montecalvo Meat Shop, and Alejandro Loon Meat Stall.
The establishments were given reminders on proper storage of fresh and processed meat and reminding them of the sanitary and health protocols.
The City Vet also reminded all consumers to be careful in buying meat products, telling them to only buy in meat shops with proper business document .
No fresh and processed meat were confiscated during the latest meat inspection. (CIO MATI/ Ethel Gastanes)
