NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro--The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro headed by Governor Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga recently paid a courtesy visit in LGU Montevista on August 15, 2022 and LGU New Bataan on the following day to discuss matters on the ongoing Indigenous People’s Housing Projects in the province funded by the National Housing Authority (NHA).
The Governor was represented by Executive Assistant for Communications and Public Relations Edward B. Macapili, together with personnel from the Housing and Homesite Division (HHD) of the Provincial Administrator's Office and met with Acting Municipal Administrator Grace Lily A. Gabato of Montevista and Mayor Geraldford Balbin of New Bataan.
According to HDD, three (3) IP housing projects in the municipalities of New Bataan, Montevista and Monkayo nears completion later this year. The housing projects are named Balai Tu Mandiba in Prosperidad, Montevista, Balai Mandaya-Mansaka in Pagsabangan, New Bataan, and Balai Na Linagsanan Tu Tribu Dibabawon in Awao, Monkayo. Each housing project has one-hundred (100) housing units with an overall total of 319 IP housing units amounting to 60 million pesos from the NHA.
On HHD’s latest on-site report, the three (3) IP housing project in New Bataan, Montevista, and Monkayo are currently on its 70 to 90% physical completion. The NHA also granted the province with an additional 19 offsite housing units named Balai Ma’al Lag in Andap, New Bataan amounting to 7 million pesos which will be soon granted to the resident-beneficiaries on September this year.
PLGU-DdO through the PAO-HHD plans to strengthen and bring forth the establishments of the home-owners association for all the fifteen (15) housing projects established by the NHA in Davao de Oro with the aid of the Department of Human Settlements and Development (DSHUD). These housing provisions are expected to bring a decent, sustainable and resilient living among the IPs. (PR/ Davao de Oro Information Office)
