MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)--One hundred twenty Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers, Punong Barangays and Barangay PESO Desk Officers, and staff attended the Basic Employment Service Training (BEST) conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) and the PESO Camiguin Federation (PCAF).
DOLE-10 Assistant Regional Director Estrella Pahalla, who represented Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, said the training capacitated the PESO managers, employment desks officers and barangay officials from the 57 barangays on effective employment and livelihood facilitation in the entire Camiguin province.
Highlight of the discussions was on Executive Order No. 138, which directs the full devolution of transfer of certain executive branch functions to Local Government Units (LGUs) under the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling where some of the programs of the Department may be devolved to the LGUs.
Pahalla underscored the quality delivery of services to the clientele through the three Cs - commitment, credibility and competence.
Likewise, PCAF President Atanacio Lusdoc, Jr. said, “This is the first time the 57 out of 58 barangays of the province are gathered in one. We thank the support of our respective Local Chief Executives and Punong Barangays allowing us to equip ourselves for better service delivery.”
Moreover, BEST strengthened the institutional approach among PESOs in introducing new dynamics in the delivery of DOLE employment and livelihood facilitation flagship programs and services closer to the people down to the barangay level.
Cross-learning through sharing of best practices from Cagayan de Oro and Jimenez, Misamis Occidental PESOs were presented.
The 57 Punong Barangays present committed to boost the partnership and advocate DOLE programs, which are beneficial to their respective constituents.
