CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--In commemoration of the 121st Police Service Anniversary, September 5, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe reaffirms the full support of the Department to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 in preventing and controlling crimes in the region.
The Regional Director said under the leadership of DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr., the DILG will continue to provide all the necessary assistance for the PNP to carry out all their mandates.
With this, Agabe reiterated the statement of SILG Abalos, saying the DILG will always support the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, as long as they fulfill their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the rule of law.
Partnering with the community.
With the full support of the DILG to the PNP, RD Agabe however said this should not be the concern of the government alone.
As such, with the crime incidents in every local government unit, Agabe emphasized the need of force multipliers through the public, saying, “Ang gusto nating force multipliers ay ang ating mga mamamayan na tutulungan tayong magmatyag kahit sa simpleng pagreport man lang ng mga insidente o kahit ang pagsiguro man lang na ligtas ang kanilang sariling mga pamilya. Malaking tulong na ito.”
(The force multipliers that we need are our people who will help us in watching out the communities, may it be through reporting incidents or even by ensuring that their own selves and families are safe. This will already help us a lot)
He added that they need the participation of the community and they need everyone to be onboard with them as there is an urgent need to develop and institutionalize sustained citizen participation for peace building, development, and good governance.
Recognizing notable performance
Held at Camp 1Lt Vicente G. Alagar, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, the said activity also served as an avenue to recognize selected PNP personnel and units for their exemplary performance and notable accomplishments. Moreover, stakeholders were also acknowledged for their contribution to the PNP.
“We thank our awardees for responding to their ‘calling’ by contributing immensely to the overall accomplishment of PRO 10. It is with your efforts that Region 10 could provide a safer place to live, work and do business with the active support of the community,” said Agabe.
Meanwhile, he challenged everyone to keep their support alive, as PNP Regional Director Lawrence B Coop would need such to ensure the effective delivery of the tasks that need to be accomplished by the PNP.
The said activity commemorates the founding anniversary of the Philippine Constabulary that was established last August 8, 1901. This year’s theme is, “Matibay na Ugnayan ng Pulisya at Mamamayan tungo sa Pagkakaisa, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.” (DILG-10/PIA-10)
