BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) recently trained Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) on digital literacy.
Johanna F. Tulauan, DICT provincial officer, said the 3-day Digital Literacy Training was attended by 18 participants from the towns of Alfonso Castaneda, Kasibu, Solano, Villaverde, Quezon, Bayombong, Bambang, Diadi and the provincial government .
“This was part of our mandate to carry out Specialized ICT Training Program targeting the special needs of various sectors in the country,” she said.
Tulauan said the training aims to provide basic information on ICT-related subjects that will help enhance the knowledge of participants and, in the long run, provide them with opportunities for employment and/or entrepreneurship; assist the government in narrowing the digital divide while also strengthening inclusiveness among the special needs sectors in the society.
It will also bridge the digital literacy gaps to determine which target groups across different sectors have the greatest needs and where the most substantial benefits could be obtained for individual groups and for the society and empower both urban and rural based marginalized groups across different sectors by enhancing their ICT capabilities and by promoting the greater use of the internet and technologies in their day-to day activities.
The training offered lectures and hands-on exercises on Computer and Internet Essentials, Productivity Tools and Troubleshooting and Networking Fundamentals. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
