Police operations vs smuggled cigarettes in zampen continues

5 boxes of smuggled cigarettes intercepted at Zambo City – IBT

Five boxes of smuggled cigarettes, brought in by a lady passenger were intercepted at Zamboanga City Integrated Bus Terminal (ZC – IBT), in the afternoon on October 14, 2022. The contents of the boxes were confirmed to be cigarettes after being taken to the baggage x-ray scanner at the arrival area.

The woman who brought the boxes in claimed that she had no knowledge of the actual contents of the boxes and that all she knew was that it contained Maggi Kari. The cigarettes were promptly seized by the police and the woman was taken to Police Station 5 in Divisoria for further investigation.

PHP 5.7 million worth of smuggled cigarettes seized in Bayog, Zambo Sibugay

A white Mitsubishi Delivery Van, loaded with 164 master cases of smuggled cigarettes was flagged down in a checkpoint operation in Bayog Zamboanga del Sur at 2:15 PM on October 13, 2022. The confiscated items have an estimated market value of PHP 5,740,000.00.

The Van driver was identified as Jeeferson Lagrimas Amabao, 27 years old, a resident of Purok Manga, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur together with Vicente Rodriguez Garcia, 32 years old, a resident of Talon-Talon Loop, Zamboanga City. They failed to present pertinent documents during the visual inspection of their cargo, which prompted the team of Bayog PNP personnel to place them under arrest.

The apprehended individuals and confiscated items were brought to Bayog Municipal Police Station for appropriate action.

PHP 1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes seized in Labangan, Zambo del Sur

Danilo Jimenez Vidad, 32 years old, a resident of Barangay Lunzuran, Zamboanga City was caught loading smuggled cigarettes in a grey Mitsubishi Pajero in Barangay Dimasangca, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on October 12, 2022. His other companions were able to elude arrest upon sensing the arrival of the responding team.

The responding PNP personnel of Labangan Municipal Police Station asked the suspect for pertinent documents regarding the said cigarettes but failed to present legal documents which prompted the responding team to place him under arrest.  

Confiscated items are 30 master cases of Green Hill Brand of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated market value amounting to PHP 1,050,000.00. The subject vehicle, suspect, and smuggled cigarettes are now in the custody of Labangan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
