KALILANGAN, Bukidnon (PIA)—As a convergence partner in improving the socio-economic development of conflict-affected areas, the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO)-10 joined the 56th founding anniversary of the 524th Engineer Construction Battalion (ECB) 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army (PA), October 15 at Camp Kibaritan Military Reservation, Barangay Malinao, Kalilangan, Bukidnon.
Under the leadership of DA-10 OIC Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, the department received a plaque of recognition for its continuing support of the unit's Army Green Camp Program (AGCP), which promotes the culture of food sufficiency.
DA 10 Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga said the department's effort is in support of Executive Order No. 70 of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), which brings development to previously conflict-prone and geographically isolated communities.
In a statement, Brigadier General Francis Marlon S. Wong, commander of the 52nd Engineer Brigade (EBde), underscored its task in ensuring community development, particularly in conflict-affected or cleared areas, while addressing the historical lines perpetuated by the communist terrorist groups (CTGs).
“As a development catalyst, we will ensure that the government is felt by the communities by addressing their needs in terms of farm-to-market roads (FMR) network, health centers, school buildings, electrifications, water systems, and other concerns,” Wong said.
In addition to the 10 sacks of complete fertilizer already provided by DA for the Army camp’s vegetable production, they will receive vegetable seeds and farm tools. (RDMElloren/DA-10/PIA 10/Bukidnon)
