CAMIGUIN (PIA)--The National Book Store, Inc., in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its regional office in northern Mindanao, extends the provision of school supplies and slippers to 201 pupils in Santo Niño Integrated School in Catarman, here, under Project ARAL (Access to Resources for Alternative Learning).
Recognizing the need to develop more skilled human resources, Usec. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST undersecretary for regional operations and the current officer-in-charge of DOST-10, sees the opportunity to provide young learners in the countryside with supplemental school supplies to further inculcate their love for learning.
The said school supplies and slippers were delivered to Sto. Niño Integrated School, November 17, facilitated by Provincial Science and Technology Director Joanne Katherine R. Banaag, in close coordination with the provincial office of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The Barangay of Sto. Niño is one of the identified Geographically Isolated Disadvantaged Area (GIDA) in Catarman town.
In addition, the said town is also a beneficiary of several science, technology, and innovation initiatives of DOST-10 under the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology program. (DOST/PIA-10/Camiguin)
