Colorful underwater photo display caps off 2022 Camiguin dive fest

CAMIGUIN (PIA)--The Camiguin Dive Festival concluded its month-long underwater photography competition, in which 20 divers from different parts of the Philippines captured the stunning beauty of Camiguin's marine life.

The Department of Tourism (DOT)-10 organized the event, headed by its Regional Director Marie Elaine Salvana-Unchuan, and Project Coordinator Kurt Chan, in partnership with the Camiguin Provincial Tourism Office under the supervision of Camiguin Provincial Tourism Officer Candice Dael.

"I would like to commend our dive tourism stakeholders who have shown immense passion, appreciation, and concern for our dive sites here in Region 10. Your love for diving equates to its sustainability, and the preservation of our treasured dive sites will forever be a source of honor and pride for all of us," Unchuan said.

The underwater photo contest features different categories such as freediving, open water classes, wide angle, and much more. The judges are experts in diving and underwater photography: Ram Yoro, a multi-published underwater photographer based in the Philippines, Bo Mancao, an underwater photographer and a marine cinematographer; and Yvette Lee, an award-winning underwater photographer and the vice president of the Discovery Fleet.

The event was also made possible through the support of the Local Government of Camiguin under the leadership of Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo and the different municipal mayors.

The Camiguin Dive Festival is also sponsored and supported by trusted airlines and brands such as Cebu Pacific, ROXY, R.O.X, and Quiksilver, and partner resorts: Balai sa Baibai, Scuba de Oro, Kurma Freedive Camiguin, Camiguin Souldivers, Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort, and Volcan Beach Resort.
