DENR, dredgers ink deal for river restoration in Occidental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- DENR-Mimaropa Regional Executive Director Lormelyn Claudio, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the owner/operator of three duly registered companies that were qualified to undertake large-scale flood control dredging and desilting operations in Occidental Mindoro.

The MOA signing was held in view of Administrative Order No. 2020-12, which provides for the restoration/rehabilitation and dredging activities of heavily-silted river channels in the said province.

In a simple program held at the Diamond Hotel, Manila on December 2, 2022, Claudio inked the deal with Reynaldo Laborte, Jr., Owner and Manager of R.V. Laborte Builders; Roberto Nazal, Jr., President and CEO of P.E.R.R.C. Construction and Development Corporation, and Lilia Zapata, Member of the Board of Directors of Bluemax Tradelink, Incorporated.

Present to witness the MOA signing were Occidental Mindoro Governor Eduardo Gadiano, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)–MIMAROPA Regional Director Glenn Marcelo Noble, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)–MIMAROPA Regional Director Joe Amil Salino, and officials of DENR-Mimaropa, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Maximo Landrito; Chief of Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division, Forester Cesar Odi; and Chief of Legal Division, Atty Gandhi Flores.
