CDO jobstarters complete full-cycle employment training

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—Ready to enter the workforce, a total of 42 beneficiaries from the Jobstart Philippines program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 have successfully completed their full cycle employment training here.

DOLE-10 Cagayan de Oro City Field Office (CDO FO) Chief Emmanuel Toledo said the beneficiaries underwent technical and internship trainings with five partner program implementers, namely: Kumon Kauswagan Branch, Kumon Tomas Saco Branch, N Hotel, Oro Graphic, and Syntactics.

Each completer received a certificate of completion of the life and skills program as labor force-ready. Fourteen of the 42 completers were hired as regular employees of their respective employers.

Also, Mylin Embodo, who was hired as a regular worker at N Hotel, said the program gave her a chance to improve her knowledge and skills as a worker.

Each trainee was given a stipend to help pay for their technical and life skills training. They were also required to do internships for up to three months with employers who paid at least 75% of the minimum wage in their area.

The goal of the program is to help young people learn new skills and find out what they are good at so they can become workers. This includes improving their knowledge and skills so they can better meet the needs of the job market.

The life skills learned will prepare them for workplace integration, and provide a conducive and safe work environment to help them develop and apply productive work ethics.

Toledo said over the years, DOLE-10 has always given clients useful programs that are current and relevant.

The Department of Labor and Employment continues to help people looking for work and people who are ready to join the workforce find jobs and develop their skills.

The graduation ceremony was in collaboration with the city's Job Placement Bureau—Public Employment Service Office—through PESO Manager Kathleen Kate Sorilla.

The DOLE JobStart Philippines Program helps young people become more employable by shortening the time spent looking for work and improving their employability through technical and life skills training that are in demand in the labor market; remuneration through paid internships; and full-cycle employment facilitation services. It also offers career counseling, practical training in life skills and other trades, and internships with partner employers. (DOLE-10/PIA-10)
