BOAC, Marinduque -- The Graduate Diploma in Cultural Education (GDCE) Mimaropa is set to return to face to face mode through July and August. This move coincides with the installation of Mam Ruby Ann Lantita as the GDCE Mimaropa director. The first ever GDCE Batch in Marinduque last 2018 was in-person prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the other hand the succeeding GDCE Batch by 2020 became virtual and made most the online platforms.
According to the new GDCE Director, the plan is based on the evaluation of the teacher-scholars themselves and the recommendation of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The CulEd Courses level 2 are as follows; Local Cultural Mapping, Media-based Cultural Documentation, Issues in Cultural Education at Development of Culture-based Lesson Exemplars.
Meanwhile, the GDCE Mimaropa project coordinator retains Dr. Randy Nobleza as he embarks his sabbatical research semester from January to May. Both the director and coordinator are GDCE accredited faculty who handles CulEd 200: Pedagogy of Cultural Education and CulEd 204: Issues in Cultural Education respectively.
The implementation of GDCE is through the National Endowment Fund for Culture and Arts (NEFCA) with the administration of NCCA Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP). GDCE is two-level post- baccalaureate program with 24 unit and eight CulEd courses. The current GDCE Batch has an intake of 33 teacher-scholars from Mimaropa, Calabarzon and the National Capital Region. (MSC)
