CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division’s (4ID’s) 1st Quarter Command Conference registered a decisive victory against the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions in 2022.
With the unprecedented accomplishments, 4ID Commander Major General Wilbur C Mamawag declared 2022 as a banner year for the Command, which will usher in a total victory in 2023. All Brigade and Battalion Commanders and other Officers under the Joint Task Force Diamond (JTFD) attended the said conference in person and some through VTC.
From January 1 to December 31, 2022, 4ID's community support program resulted in the dismantling of five guerrilla fronts (GF68B, GF89, GF Malayag, GF Huawei, and GF19), one vertical unit (SRSDG Wei) and one (1) independent platoon (Platoon Ryan).
Its focused military operation resulted in 134 encounters that led to the neutralization of 317 CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and the capture of 340 firearms and 41 Anti-Personal Mines (APMs).
The Command’s intelligence operations also caused the neutralization of 23 priority high-value individuals (HVIs) including Rolando Rubilla Leyson Jr, Secretary of SRC Northland; Neneth Generalao Dolera, Secretary of GF19; and Noel Tumarlas Alacre, CO of Platoon 2, WGF30 all under the NEMRC and Raquel N Dahoyla, Secretary of SRC5, NCMRC; Vincent Isagani Madlos, Central Committee Member and Head National Technical Bureau NOC and Pedro Codaste, Member of NDF Central Committee.
Meanwhile, in the clearing of affected areas, 4ID has cleared 9 out of its 12 Focus Areas (FocArs) resulting in the CTG losing its mass base support.
In his command guidance, Mamawag delivered the operational and administrative thrust for 2023. He enjoined the JTFD component units to maintain and improve its operational excellence by working closely with partners and stakeholders while investing in the enhancement of soldiers' skills and capabilities.
"I need every personnel's impeccable professionalism, resolve, and commitment to ensure the total defeat of the CTGs," Mamawag said. (4ID/PIA-10)
