CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division (4ID) opened its week-long 53rd Anniversary celebration by initiating a bike for peace dubbed as "Sikad alang sa Kalinaw," January 27.

The activity aims to strengthen partnerships, promote solidarity with its stakeholders, enhance environmental awareness, and promote the culture of health and wellness among the people of Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions.

Around 32 bike organizations comprising a total of 269 bike enthusiasts from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other government agencies, as well as civilians from different walks of life, participated in the event.

The bike ride started at exactly 6:00 AM from Camp Evangelista, Brgy Patag to Cogon market, passing through the Coastal Road in Brgy. Gusa, Brgy. Bayabas, Opol, Misamis Oriental, Brgy. Bulua, then back to Camp Evangelista, covering 27 kilometers.

Moreover, the bikers paused for a while at the coastal road in Brgy Lapasan where the residents of Brgy Lapasan and volunteers from the 4ID jointly conducted a coastal clean-up.

4ID Commander Wilbur C. Mamawag shared that the event is a testament to the Diamond troopers' commitment to sustainable peace in the region while advocating for environmental awareness and wellness.

"As we celebrate another milestone, our 53rd Founding Anniversary, rest assured that our soldiers will remain committed to their mandate to protect the people and secure the land. This Bike for Peace is a clear manifestation that together we can do so much to make a difference in our society," he added. (4ID/PIA-10)
