MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--To fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies and reduce cost, time, and effort, particularly on the part of the applicants, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental (PGMO) through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) conducted its 1st PAGLAUM-MisOr, RISE-CDO Job Fair at the Atrium, Limketkai Center, here.
With over 3,000 job openings from over 90 local government and private companies, the PAGLAUM-RISE CDO Job Fair was made possible in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Provincial Field Office. The League of PESO Managers in Misamis Oriental, spearheaded by Governor Peter M. Unabia, DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro also took part in the event.
"We are grateful to the driving force behind the PAGLAUM Job Fair, and to the leadership of Gov. Peter M. Unabia," said CDO City Councilor Rep. Ian Nacaya.
The event was deemed successful, with 2,393 applicants participating in the event and 98 total participating establishments, 91 local and 7 overseas. The job fair was able to produce 88 applicants who were "hired-on-the-spot" (HOTS) and 38 applicants who qualified for overseas work, excluding IPAMS.
"This job fair is for the preparedness of applicants to the global competitive arena of businesses, and I am grateful for the City’s cooperation as well," Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter M. Unabia said.
Meanwhile, DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib said the PAGLAUM Job Fair would alleviate the problems with the ongoing underemployment in Misamis Oriental. (DOLE-10/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
