CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--A total of 174 Oro interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 successfully completed their three-month internship program after being deployed in different government agencies and barangay local government units (LGUs).

The activity was conducted by DOLE-10 Cagayan de Oro City Field Office, headed by Provincial Director Emmanuel G. Toledo, in collaboration with the city's Job Placement Bureau-Public Employment Service Office (JPB-PESO) and the 2nd Congressional District of Cagayan de Oro.

DOLE-10 Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) Director II Antheneus A. Vasallo, who was there on behalf of DOLE Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, CDOFO Provincial Director Toledo, Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez of the 2nd Congressional District, and his Chief of Staff Lawyer Regine Beatrice T. Rodriguez also took part in the orientation.

Highlights of the activity were the awarding and distribution of certificates of completion to the interns, messages from the congressman and DOLE representatives, and the sharing of learnings from the selected interns.

With a budget of P3 million, the 2nd congressional district of Cagayan de Oro city will launch the Government Internship Program (GIP) this year.

The GIP offers three- to six-month internships to people who have graduated from high school, a technical or vocational school, or college and want to work for the government at the local or national level.

The program also offers job opportunities to people between the ages of 18 and 30 who are unemployed and seeking employment.

Through GIP, many young Filipinos are given a chance to showcase and practice their knowledge and skills in public service.

The program serves as a training camp for many young individuals, especially those who have no working experience. (DOLE-10/PIA-10)
