CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 conducted the basic course for labor inspectors level 1A and refresher course for labor inspectors (LIs) and foreign national labor inspectors (FNLIs), January 25–27, at the De Luxe Hotel, here.

The Technical Support and Services Division facilitated the conduct of the said training for all labor inspectors in this region in order to revisit the basic labor standards and equip them with the latest labor-related issuances provided by DOLE.

"We need to be guided by the existing and applicable labor standards to enable us to effectively and efficiently implement our labor enforcement mandate," DOLE Regional Director Albert E. Gutib said.

The department also trained people who aren't labor inspectors but hold positions like senior labor and employment officer and labor and employment officer III so they could learn the right knowledge and skills for inspections.

The three-day course covered the following: 1) Overview of the Labor Code of the Philippines, 2) Visitorial and Enforcement Power, 3) The Employer-Employee Relationship, 4) General Labor Standards, 5) Enforcement of Labor Laws/Labor Inspection System—Department Order No. 183, Series of 2017, and 6) Occupational Safety and Health RA 11058 and Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018.

Department Order No. 183 on revised rules on the administration and enforcement of labor laws aims to further strengthen the visitorial and enforcement powers towards securing compliance to labor laws and standards and ensuring continuity and sustainability of compliance at workplaces.
