LANAO DEL NORTE (PIA)--The labor inspectors (LIs) and assistant labor inspectors (ALIs) from Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office participated in the three-day regional conduct of the Basic Course for Labor Inspectors Level 1A and Refresher Course, January 25–27.
The two-day Labor Inspectors’ Summit, February 9-10, 2023, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Manila, brought together LIs and ALIs from across the country to share their best practices in relation to the Inspectorate System. To refresh and equip them, the regional office continued to reorient and enhance them by providing training and capacity-building opportunities.
The course modules included an overview of the Philippine Labor Code, visitorial and enforcement powers, employer-employee relationships, general labor standards, Department Order No. 183, Series of 2008: Enforcement of Labor Laws/Labor Inspection System, Republic Act 11058: Occupational Safety and Health, and Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018.
Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office Chief Lawyer Safrali Cabili said that LIs and ALIs play an important role in ensuring that labor laws and standards are efficiently and consistently applied to all employers and workers.
"Their commitment and determination to uphold the rights of employees and employers cannot be dissuaded from carrying out their duties successfully," he said.
LIs are intended to strengthen the implementation of the visitorial and enforcement powers under the Labor Code, as amended, in order to secure a higher level of compliance with labor laws and standards, as well as to ensure the continuity and sustainability of compliance at workplaces.
