TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--The 10-year-long skirmish between the Mokadi Salindingan Clan from Barangay Payong, Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND), and Nasser Alilang Clan from Barangay Caludan, Nunungan, was finally put to rest through a peace pact signed and agreed upon by the involved clan leaders, February 20, Multi-Purpose Building "Kalimudan," Provincial Capitol Compound, Pigcarangan, Tubod.
Another peace covenant signing between two warring clans, the Diragon Clan of Tangcal and the Omar Clan of Magsaysay, was also successfully held at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall on the same day. These clans had been at odds for two months before agreeing to settle their differences.
The said clan dispute settlements were successfully conducted upon the interventions of the local government units of SND, Nunungan, Tangcal, and Magsaysay, the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police, and the provincial government, through the Committee on Public Order and Safety, Rido, and Conflict Settlement chaired by Sangguniang Panlalawian Member Achmad Taha.
Governor Imelda "Angging" Dela Cruz Quibranza thanked the family leaders for their willingness to mend the broken relationship between their clans and their shared goal of making Lanao del Norte a peaceful and developed province.
"Islam is peace. If you are a devoted Muslim, then you are a man of peace," Dimaporo said.
Also present during the consecutive settlements were former 2nd District Representative Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo, Vice Governor Allan J. Lim, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Acmad A. Taha, Abdany C. Buanding, Maria Christina Atay, and Superman Usop, the newly installed Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office Director Police Colonel Sandy Vales, Lieutenant Colonel Juvygleen Escandor of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Police Lieutenant Colonel Salman Saad, Police Major Mohammadali Almerol, barangay officials, and Muslim Elders.
