MARAWI CITY (PIA)--With the newly inaugurated rural health units (RHUs) in the towns of Marogong and Binidayan in Lanao del Sur, residents of the area now have easier access to quality healthcare services.
Funded under the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Marawi Rehabilitation, Recovery, and Reconstruction Program, each of the RHUs costs P6 million, complete with equipment.
The RHUs have rooms for giving birth, staff, counseling, a doctor's lounge, recovery, consultation, a pharmacy, help with non-communicable diseases, sterilization, and food.
MOH Health Facility and Development Division Infrastructure Section Head Engr. Abdulrauf Macapeges and Lanao del Sur Integrated Provincial Health Officer Dr. Alinader Minalang led the inauguration ceremony, February 22.
Macapeges said the ministry and the Bangsamoro Government will keep making improvements to the region's health care system.
"Hindi pa dito nagtatapos ang proyekto ng BARMM in terms of health facilities, marami pang darating. Habang nandito ang BARMM, kaagapay niyo kami sa pagbibigay ng kalidad na serbisyo sa usaping kalusugan," Macapeges said.
On the other hand, Minalang said, "This (RHU) is one of the milestone projects, of course, this is with the collaborative efforts of the Bangsamoro Government, national government, and LGUs. We are expecting that we can provide quality health services to our constituents in LDS."
MOH will also cover P50,000 in monthly operational and medicine and drug expenses for all RHUs in BARMM.
Marogong Municipal Health Officer Dr. Nasser Alimoda, Binidayan Municipal Health Officer Dr. Mondirah Panda, Binidayan Chief of Unayan District Hospital Dr. Racquelina Benito, and barangay local government units, RHU personnel, and barangay health workers were also present during the inauguration ceremony to show their support.
