CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Regional Development Council (RDC)-10 Executive Committee approved the gross value-added growth targets for the agriculture, industry, and services sectors in Region 10 for the period 2023–2028 during its meeting, February 7.
The said targets form part of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan 2023–2028, which was approved by the Council during its 132nd Full Council Meeting, December 13, 2022.
The following are among the medium-term (2028) growth targets tagged as "headline indicators": Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased (at constant 2018 prices): 6.5–8.0%; GVA in agriculture increased (at constant 2018 prices): 3.0–4.5%; GVA in industry increased (at constant 2018 prices): 8.5–10.0%; and GVA in services increased (at constant 2018 prices): 7.0–8.55.
The GRDP measures the economic size and performance of the region and is an aggregate of the Gross Value Added of the three major industries, namely: agriculture, forestry, and fishing, industry, and services.
By 2040, northern Mindanao is envisioned to be "an international gateway, a leading agricultural hub, and a major industrial, tourism, and trade center in the Philippines, with empowered citizens enjoying comfortable lives while sustainably harnessing the region’s agricultural and natural resources and cultural assets, while living in a harmonious, inclusive, smart, safe, and resilient environment."
RDC-10 Chairperson and Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo called for everyone to "continue to work together and not lose sight of the aspirations and targets that we commit to realize for northern Mindanao."
During the meeting, the Committee also approved and adopted the updated list of Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev) Focus Barangays of Region 10 as the region's flagship program for sustainable development and just and lasting peace. It also supported and endorsed the adoption and implementation of the Cultural Recovery and Resiliency Plan 2022–2028 and the creation or reorganization of the Local Culture and Arts Councils among the local government units.
