CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Agriculture being one of the priorities of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., the National Irrigation Administration (NIA)-10 presented 2023 and 2024 projects to northern Mindanao policymakers during the Regional Management Committee (RMC) consultative meeting held by the Department of Agriculture (DA)-10, February 24.
Being part of the RMC, NIA 10 together with fellow members BFAR, PCA, BAI, ATI, and NFA presented their respective programs and projects during the consultative meeting, which was attended by four representatives of the region, namely, Cagayan de Oro City 1st District Representative Lordan G. Suan, Misamis Oriental 1st District Representative Christian S. Unabia, Misamis Oriental 2nd District Representative Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano, and Iligan City Lone District Representative Celso G. Regencia.
NIA 10 presented both the CY 2023 programs and projects as reflected in the General Appropriation Act (GAA) and the proposed CY 2024 programs and projects budget, underscoring the priority irrigation development programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) for implementation in the respective districts of each legislator present.
"One of the priority agendas of the new administration is agriculture. Thus, our agency, the National Irrigation Administration, is very significant in implementing President Marcos' project in order to continue and develop in boosting the [agriculture] sector," says NIA 10 Engineering and Operations Acting Division Manager Engr. Remegio B. Ang.
The activity is a way for DA-10, its attached agencies, and line bureaus to work together to spread information about NIA implementation strategies, the use of irrigation, and agricultural development in the whole region.
