MARAWI CITY (PIA)—To steer and support operational readiness and disaster preparedness in the region, the Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), handed over a newly equipped fire truck to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), March 14.
Deputy Minister Abunawas Maslamama and MILG Minister Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo oversaw the ceremony where PRO-BAR Regional Director PBGen John Guyguyon received the fire truck.
Guyguyon affirmed their strong commitment and sustained action for the prosperous life of the Bangsamoro people. "The PNP is looking forward to a stronger partnership with the Bangsamoro Government through the MILG in maintaining peace and security in the region," he said.
On top of that, MILG gave the PRO-BAR's Human Rights Affairs and Regional Legal Office more office supplies to help the police force make the region a more peaceful place.
In addition to providing fire trucks, the Bangsamoro Government also makes it easier to build police stations and headquarters and carry out various capacity-building initiatives for both men and women in uniform under the direction of the MILG's Interior Affairs Services.
Also, the BARMM government turned over 11 police patrol cars to the PRO BAR's respective municipal and city police stations to aid in their law enforcement operations and in combating criminalities.
Sinarimbo underscored that the Ministry, in partnership with other concerned stakeholders, will work closely with the PNP to strengthen its approach in expanding the Tulong ng Gobyernong Nagmamalasakit (TuGoN) project to counter extremist narratives, among others.
The program was implemented to support and strengthen law enforcement, which aims to empower and make them more effective partners towards long-lasting peace and sustainable development in the Bangsamoro Region. (BIO/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
