DOST-10 upgrades tech for biz, free trainings

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Due to the fast-paced evolution of technological innovations and digital advancements, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-10 promoted their free consultancy and training services for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to further digitize and expand businesses during the Lambo Dyes radio program, March 10.

"Naa pud ta’y different experts sa DOST. Naa sila sa lain-lain nga field of expertise, and usahay aduna pud ta'y gina-hire nga consultants—kini nga mga consultants muhatag pud sila ug mga praktikal nga solusyon aron makatabang ug improve sa ilang mga produkto ug mugamay ilahang production costs. Mao ni atong ginatawag nga Manufacturing Productivity Extension (MPEX) Program," DOST-10 Project Technical Assistant Raziel Antoniette Bayagna, said.

(We also have different experts in DOST; they have various fields of expertise, and sometimes we also hire consultants—these consultants help in giving practical solutions that aim to help [businesses] improve their products and minimize their production costs. We call this program the Manufacturing Productivity Extension (MPEX) Program.

This program aims to give businesses the knowledge they need through seminars, webinars, and on-site training to improve their day-to-day operations and increase the quality of their products. This will help make sure that good manufacturing processes are used and that facilities are built correctly.

She also said that 108 MSMEs in Misamis Oriental have been helped by the MPEX program since 2016.

Aside from this, they also help businesses that make and process food get their License to Operate (FDA-LTO) certifications approved.

DOST, in partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL), and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), collaborated to launch the "SciTech Superhighway Program," which helps businesses protect their logos, branding, and trademark registration.

Within the 10-year validity of the registration, businesses must generate three (years of actual use of the logo or trademark, otherwise the certificate will be forfeited. (PIA-10/GKND)
