QUEZON CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is on alert and ready to provide assistance and resource augmentation to all local government units (LGUs) as Tropical Depression ‘Amang’ maintains its strength causing heavy rainfall in some areas in Luzon and Visayas.
On April 12, Disaster Response Management Group Assistant Secretary Diana Rose Cajipe spearheaded the preparedness briefing with the DSWD Field Offices (FOs), to ensure that food and non-food items (FNFIs) and other relief supplies are readily available for augmentation to LGUs that may be affected by TD Amang.
Following the directive of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, concerned FOs ensured that relief goods are prepositioned strategically in the disaster-prone areas within their respective regions for immediate response.
Members of the DSWD Central and Field Offices Quick Response Teams (QRT) are on standby and ready for deployment for the anticipated impact of the tropical depression.
Furthermore, the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB) and concerned FOs are continuously repacking goods and preparing family food packs (FFPs) for possible requests of relief augmentation and to guarantee sufficient relief supplies for the disaster-affected communities.
Currently, the DSWD Central Office, FOs, and the National Resource Operations Center have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1,430,634,097.94.
The DSWD will continue to monitor the situations in the areas along the path of the tropical depression and urged residents to follow the orders of local authorities for their own safety. (DSWD)
