PH Red Cross continues to be Filipinos’ lifeline

After the successful celebration of Philippine Red Cross’s (PRC) 75th Founding Anniversary last 15 April, the foremost humanitarian organization affirms a more enhanced and transformative humanitarian service as it elects a new policy-making body at its 33rd Biennial National Convention on April 17 - 19 at the Manila Hotel.

The Board of Directors from PRC’s more than a hundred chapters and branches nationwide will elect nine governors to replace the members of the Board of Governors whose terms have ended.

“We at the Philippine Red Cross are elated to welcome our Board of Directors from our chapters nationwide. This gathering marks our shared mission that is to be the foremost humanitarian organization in the country. That being said, this convention is not a simple gathering but our way of staying true to our commitment of always being on our toes in bettering our services as we are the Filipinos' lifeline,” said PRC Chairman Richard J. Gordon.

The convention will likewise serve as a platform for Chapter Administrators, staff, and volunteers from all PRC chapters to discuss in-depth understanding and strategic practices of PRC services and programs. The PRC will also confer the Golden Humanitarian Award, Silver Humanitarian Award, and Aurora Aragon Award on people who made significant contributions to the progress and development of PRC.

In addition to the activities mentioned, the PRC will sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to promote health and safety in workplaces centered on life-saving courses, e.g. basic and advanced first aid training, for employees.

For 75 years, the PRC has been expanding its services and enhancing its logistics to better serve vulnerable communities.
