DPWH Biliran conducts ocular inspection of ongoing projects

NAVAL, Biliran -- To assess the actual status of the ongoing projects, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) recently conducted an ocular inspection on some of its major projects implemented under previous year  funding.

The inspection was led by OIC-District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido and Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio together with  Construction Section Chief Luisito Filemon A. Abad, project engineers, representatives from the concerned contractors, and the media.

Projects inspected include the ongoing construction of P29-M Alawihaw Bridge in Brgy. Lucsoon, Naval, Biliran along Naval-Caibiran Cross Country Road (NCCCR) and the P50-M construction/improvement of access roads leading NRJ Villa Consuelo connecting to Libtong road in support of the food and resource-based processing, both implemented under FY 2022 funding. As per inspection, these projects already accomplished 79.39% and 30%, respectively.

Other projects inspected are the P45-M construction of road at Sitio Magtaran-An, Talustusan to Sampao, Almeria Road in support of the resource-based processing in Naval, Biliran under FY 2021 funding. This project is now 90% completed.

Meanwhile, the team also inspected the P50-M reconstruction of bridge at Sitio Ilijan, Brgy. Poblacion, Almeria, Biliran funded under FY 2021. The said project is ongoing with 70% accomplishment.

“Our inspection aims not only to ensure the quality delivery of public works but also to address some issues/challenges during the implementation of these PY projects,” said Bollido.

Bollido said that concerned contractors of these projects were required to finish the projects the soonest time while the weather is ideal for construction activities so that funding allotted for these major projects will not be reverted.

Bollidp further said that contractors have only until June 30, 2023 to finish projects funded under FY 2021 while projects funded under FY 2022 have only until December 31, 2023. (DPWH-BDEO)
