WESCOM intensifies SAR efforts on missing M/Y Dream Keeper passengers

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan -- The AFP Western Command (WESCOM) intensified its search and rescue operations to locate the four missing passengers of the ill-fated M/Y Dream Keeper that sank Sunday morning four nautical miles Southeast of the Tubbataha Reef Natural Park (TRNP) in Palawan.

A Philippine Navy (PN) Britten Norman Islander aircraft NV312, one US P-8 Poseidon and two V-22 Osprey took turns in yesterday's (May 1) aerial search sorties.

The US commitment in the said sorties is a manifestation of the RP-US partnership not just in defense cooperation but also in humanitarian and disaster response.

Meanwhile, another PN vessel, BRP Felix Apolinario (PC-395), will depart Puerto Princesa City today to augment BRP Carlos Albert (PC-375) in the ongoing SAR efforts. WESCOM is also collaborating with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for the possible embarkation of PN's AW109E helicopter NH431 on board PCG's BRP Melchora Aquino MRRV 9702 for the conduct of a coordinated air-sea SAR operations in TRNP.
