MARAWI CITY (PIA)—The Bangsamoro Treasury Office (BTO) of the Ministry of Finance, and Budget and Management (MFBM) held its Annual Bangsamoro Local Revenue Collection Forum on April 25, where various ministries and offices were recognized for their outstanding collection performance in fiscal year (FY) 2022.
The Ministry of Public Works (MPW), the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), and the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) were hailed as the top three awardees for the highest collecting ministries.
This recognition aimed to motivate all ministries and offices to work together to elevate their efforts in achieving their collection targets annually to boost the quality of public service delivery to the people.
MFBM Deputy Minister Amilbahar Amilasan, Jr., emphasized that the forum is a testament to the positive changes in the region.
"For the past years, starting from 2019 to 2022, with the Bangsamoro agenda of moral governance, we have seen a tremendous change in the local revenue collection performance of the region," the deputy minister said.
He further encouraged ministries and offices to continue sustaining their local revenue collection efforts as they transition towards developing their capacities and competencies.
Meanwhile, Bangsamoro Treasurer Naila Dimaraw presented the collection target for FY 2023, along with other future improvements on collections and deposits.
These efforts are anchored in the government's digitalization program, which aims to improve revenue collection performance and increase economic transparency in the region.
The BTO's annual forum serves as a developmental story in the region's pursuit of greater fiscal autonomy through efficient revenue collection operations.
