CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfae and Development has issued a statement following various complaints received by the agency on the inclusion of Ocen's Best Tuna in the agency's Family Food Packs.
The statement said "It is unfortunate that Ocean’s Best Tuna, one of the items included in the DSWD’s Family Food Packs, has been the subject of numerous complaints from recipients/beneficiaries of the FFPs."
It added that it is important to note that the canned tuna are not expired as can be seen from the samples presented in social media.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian has already directed all Regional Field Offices to recall the canned tuna, the advisory said.
Accordingly, Sec. Gatchalian has also ordered the Central Office to talk to the supplier of Ocean’s Best Tuna for the replacement of the whole lot based on the numerous complaints in the regions.
The DSWD Secretary also directed concerned officials to study all options including sanctions on the supplier, withholding of payment and even blacklisting from the list of accredited suppliers. (PIA Mimaropa/DSWD PR)
