Envisioned to strengthen the delivery and implementation of various Science and Technology (S&T) services in the regional and provincial level, the Department of Science and Technology XI through the Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) in Davao del Sur has convened with various stakeholders to craft an S&T Agenda for Davao del Sur.
PSTO Davao del Sur Director, Ms. Leslie Cancio, said that the S&T Agenda will involve the stakeholders from academe, government, media, civil society organization, and industry to effectively deliver higher level assistance and engage the communities in more advanced initiatives for the province.
Through a coordination meeting, PSTO Davao del Sur discussed the rationale, proposed members of the Technical Working Group (TWG), roles and responsibilities of each member, and exchange of best practices to formulate the S&T Agenda.
The S&T Agenda meeting also highlighted the importance of policymakers and other stakeholders to work together from the ground up and create an environment where S&T is involved in public policy.
DOST XI PSTO Davao del Sur noted significant inputs in the five priority areas namely: Agriculture, Aquatic, Fisheries, Forestry and Natural Resources, Industry, Energy and Emerging Technologies, Health, Social Sciences, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation.
Present in the activity were representatives from Provincial Indigenous People Mandatory Representative and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Office, Provincial Health Office, DepEd Digos City and Davao del Sur Division, PENRO-LGU, DENR-PENRO, LGU-Digos OCPDC, PLGU-PPDO Davao del Sur, UM Digos Campus, DSSC, DP Fabrication and Machineries, PDRRMO, and Provincial PIO.
