Opol PUV transport corp to launch addt’l modernized PUV units

OPOL, Misamis Oriental (PIA)--The Opol PUV Transport Corporation launched three additional modernized UVE Class III units as it expanded its public utility vehicle fleet to further boost Opol’s PUV modernization program, May 8.

The three latest units will operate along the developmental intra-regional route from Malanang, Opol, to Cagayan de Oro City and are a supplemental unit to the existing ten modernized UVE Class III vehicles that offer improved transport services to commuters in the area.

Under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), the transport corporation aims to provide Filipinos with a more comfortable and reliable public transport system that is more accessible, environmentally friendly, and safer.

The modernized UVE Class III units are equipped with Euro-4 engines as per Omnibus Franchising Guidelines (OFG). Additionally, these units also feature OFG-compliant accessories such as the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS), Speed Limiter, GNSS, WiFi, and CCTV.

Despite the apprehension of some with the government's PUV modernization program, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-10 remains steadfast in serving the riding public by continuously delivering quality services and will continuously implement its mandate and take concerted steps aimed at the implementation and success of PUVMP, which will benefit Filipinos by providing better, safer, and eco-friendly public land transport.
