DOLE to deploy interns to NGAs in Normin thru GIP

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Facilitating the employment of the youth has been a long-standing, ongoing crusade of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 as it believes in the potential of the Kagay-Anon youth.

The department through the Cagayan de Oro Field Office (CDOFO) headed by Provincial Director Emmanuel Toledo led an orientation to the 55 interns of the Government Internship Program (GIP), May 10, 2023, at the 2nd Congressional District Office.

These 55 GIPs will be deployed to the different government offices within region 10. An orientation was conducted to further orient the interns regarding their duties and responsibilities under the program.

It aimed to instill not only the knowledge and skills, but at the same time give these individuals the right mindset and work ethics as to how they approach public service. Contract signing for the new batch of interns followed after the orientation.

Toledo commended these young individuals for considering public service when there can be other opportunities they can take. He also congratulated them for being the chosen ones after a careful and thorough selection process.

As they are about to embark on a journey that will form them as productive public servants, Toledo hopes that they will remain passionate to work and find purpose and meaning in this employment opportunity.

On another note, higher officials from nineteen participating National Government Agency (NGA) offices situated in the city converged for a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing pertaining to the deployment of DOLE GIPs to their offices.

Contrary to what has been done for the longest time, GIPs used to be deployed only to Barangay Offices, PESO offices, and DOLE offices itself.

In order to keep up with the demands of government workload, Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez shared that the 2nd Congressional District Office collaborated with these agencies to allow the deployment of GIPs to these offices with a budget allocation of    P3,000,000 for their salaries.

Additionally, Toledo thanked the 2nd District Congressional Office and the participating agencies for allowing the Government Internship Program (GIP) to expand its implementation.

This will not only help offices accomplish more through additional manpower, but also allow the youth to have access to gainful employment and meaningful work experience in these esteemed offices.

The following NGAs stationed in the region will be allocated with one to three  GIPs each in order to increase office productivity: National Commission on Indigenous Peoples; PhilHealth; National Labor Relations Commission; National Nutrition Council;

Philippine Information Agency; National Conciliation and Mediation Board; Philippine Statistics Authority; Population Commission; Department of Science and Technology; Philippine Commission on Women;

Department of Budget and Management; Anti Red Tape Authority; Department of Health; Bureau of Fire Protection; Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board; Bureau of Internal Revenue;

Land Transportation Office; Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The internship will commence, May 16, 2023, for a period of six months where they will be thoroughly trained and evaluated. Upon availability of plantilla positions and evidence of good working performance from the agencies where they are assigned, they may even be given a chance to be absorbed into a more secured and regular position.
