Newly-appointed BARMM Deputy Ministers swear in with focus on moral governance

MARAWI CITY—Two newly-appointed deputy ministers for the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) and the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) sworn in before Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Wednesday, June 14, with their oath of office centered on ‘Moral Governance’.

Ibrahim Ibay, the newly appointed Deputy Minister of MILG, took over the position previously held by Senior Minister Abunawas "Von Alhaq" Maslamama. Prior to his appointment, Ibay served as the governor of the dissolved Shariff Kabunsuan Province and held the position of mayor in the town of Parang, Maguindanao for several years.

The MILG is mandated to promote and maintain security in Bangsamoro's constituent local government units (LGUs) and aid the Chief Minister in the general supervision of the governance of the region's LGUs' immediate local government.

Meanwhile, Aldin Asiri, the newly appointed Deputy Minister of MHSD, brings previous experience from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and recently held the position of Director V in the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Zamboanga Peninsula.

MHSD is responsible for the management of housing and human settlement in the region as well as affairs relating to both rural and urban development.

While congratulating the officials, Chief Minister Ebrahim said the task was a daunting one and would require a lot of effort.

“With utmost dedication, devotion, honesty, justice, and integrity completely devoid of all the evils in governance, especially graft and corruption,” he said.

Meanwhile, MHSD Deputy Minister Asiri said it is an honor to serve the Bangsamoro. "Sa ating makakaya, gagawin po natin ito for the welfare and development ng ating kababayan. Ang importante ay iyong sincerity, dedikasyon at commitment natin to serve the Bangsamoro [to the best of our ability, we will do this for the welfare and development of our countrymen. What is important is our sincerity, dedication and commitment to serve the Bangsamoro],” he added. (BIO/PIA Lanao del Sur)
