MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA) -- To ensure food security among households here in the province, the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office (DA-RFO)-10 headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over a total of 50 packets of assorted vegetable seeds (Pinakbet and Chopsuey variants) to the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), here, June 27.
DA-10 Field Operations Divisions chief Luz I. Guzman led the turnover of the agri inputs to the PLGU through Feljun Sumagang of the Public Employment Service Office.
Funded under the High-Value Crops Development Program, the provisions are in support of the province’s Adopt-a-Barangay program, wherein it will be distributed to the 200 beneficiary households of Barangay Bata-awan of Gingoog City.
Sumagang disclosed that the received seeds will aid the province’s thrust in transforming poor barangays, as they acknowledge that natural backyard gardening is a promising approach to having a continuous supply of fresh and nutritious vegetables. (DLVicente/DA-10/PIA-10/ Misamis Oriental)
