CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--To cushion the impact on farmers of the rising cost of farm inputs, the Department of Agriculture (DA)-10, helmed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over P29 million worth of yellow corn seeds and fertilizers to the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.
DA-10's Regional Technical Director for Operations, Carlota S. Madriaga, gave Mayor Rolando A. Uy a certificate of turnover for the list of interventions, which included 3,200 bags of hybrid yellow corn seeds (worth P19.2 million), inorganic fertilizer (worth P9.6 million), and 4,500 packets of Bio-N fertilizer (worth P585,000). This took place during the local government's weekly flag-raising ceremony and program.
With the said provisions, DA-10 is optimistic about scaling up the productivity, livelihood, and income of farmers, thereby overall helping in the upliftment of agricultural farmer-producers from poverty.
Also gracing the simple rite are DA consultant Joel S. Rudinas and other DA officials: Luz I. Guzman, PhD, Field Operations Division chief; Wilson V. Lagdamin, Provincial Operations Center chief for Misamis Oriental; Richan D. Lacanaria, Corn Program focal person; and other DA-10 and LGU CDO staff. (DA-10/PIA-10)
