Former leaders, members of ANAKPAWIS, BAYAN MUNA denounce communist terrorism

Ex-leftists join 'Walk for Peace' in Sorsogon

CASTILLA, Sorsogon - Leaders and Members of Sectoral Front Organizations (SFOs) in Sorsogon the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) and ANAKPAWIS joined the “Walk for Peace” activity dubbed "Lakat para sa Katoninongan kag Katalingkasan." This is in connection with the commemoration of the 125th Independence Day, Monday, June 12.

The activity started with a walk from Rompeolas followed by the program proper at the Capitol Grounds, Sorsogon City. Therein, the members of the SFOs initiated the candle lighting and burning of CPP-NPA-NDF flags. They also took their Oath of Allegiance to the nation, and inked their signatures on the Commitment Wall.

The activity aims to show the support for the peace and order, and the development initiatives of the present administration by denouncing all forms of violence, terrorism, and atrocities that impede peace and development in the communities.

Joining the said activity were the “peace advocates” from the Philippine Army units and Philippine National Police in Sorsogon. The activity was initiated and conducted by 93rd CMO Company, 9CMO Battalion, under the direct supervision of Brigadier General Aldwine I. Almase, 903rd Brigade Commander.

Moreover, the Army ROTC unit under the supervision of 505th, 5th RCDG, RESCOM, PA, Director, Major Annamy N. Nero and Sorsogon PPO led by PD Police Colonel Dionesio T Laceda, and 504th Maneuver Company, RMFB5 extended their support.

“Ka Victor”, a former ANAKPAWIS leader called for an end to the “terrorist” activities, extortion, harassment and deception of civilians, as well as recruitment of youth. He also said he fought a “useless battle” against the government since he was young and wasted his life in the process.

In addition, the local government of Sorsogon under the administration of Governor Edwin “Boboy” Hamor pledged its commitment to support the former rebels through the initiatives of giving them a job under the 7K Program “KALIKASAN” to entice more members of CPP-NPA-NDF to return to the mainstream of society and live in peaceful means. The said program is over and above of the benefits and entitlements of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the national government.

Meanwhile, Brig Gen. Aldwine I. Almase, 903rd Brigade Commander said that the violent acts made by the CTGs that claimed countless lives contradicts the aspirations of our forefathers and has no place in our society.

He said that this is the right time to celebrate the freedom of our country as we commemorate the 125th National Independence day.

Through the effective collaboration of 903rd Brigade and the local government unit of Sorsogon, 60 CTG regular members and supporters have already surrendered and withdrew their support from the group for the past 5 months.
