DOLE-10, PESO Jimenez record 10 HOTS in ASENSO job fair

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--Out of 99 jobseekers, ten were declared hired on the spot (HOTS), while 76 were registered as qualified applicants in the recently held Asenso Job Fair in Jimenez, here.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10, through the Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (MOPFO), headed by Misamis Occidental Provincial Director Ebba Borbon-Acosta, in partnership with the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of Jimenez, collaborated to make the event successful.

Vice Mayor Rosario Balais graced the occasion in the presence of PESO Manager Arnulfo M. Guimalan, Acosta, and the Sanguniang Bayan members.

Balais emphasized that the secret to building a strong relationship with employers is trust and loyalty. "One cannot sustain working conditions if one lacks confidence, passion, and love for work," Balais added.

PD Acosta formally opened the event and commended all the participating companies that took the time to join the job fair. In her speech, she inspired everyone to dream big because everything is possible with determination.

A total of 370 job openings, both local and overseas, were available. Out of 99 jobseekers, ten were declared HOTS, while 76 were registered as qualified applicants.

Aiko L. Dando, 29, from P-2 San Isidro, Jimenez, did not miss the chance to participate in the job fair. He was one of the Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS) virtual assistants in Gloria Bazaar.

Dando was a former employee of the same company. However, he was one of the employees who were affected by the retrenchment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For him, being hired enables him to develop his full potential and practice his skills.

"Mapasalamaton ko kay lisod mangita og trabaho ug mahatagan og dako nga opportunity ang mga jobseeker sama nako."

(I am very grateful because it is hard to find a job that will give an opportunity to all jobseekers like me)

Another HOTS, Edward Onill Cuadra, 26 years old, from P-2A Tabo-o, Jimenez, was hired as a bus conductor at the Rural Transit Mindanao Incorporated. He found the job posting through PESO Jimenez's Facebook page. Cuadra thanks DOLE Misamis Occidental and Jimenez LGU for giving him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have decent and productive employment.

The DOLE, through the PESO, aims to increase employment rates for the productive and economic growth of the locality. It caters not only to local employment but overseas as well. (DOLE-10/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
