MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--As part of its efforts to extend its services to the public, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA-RFO)-10 headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over an assortment of vegetable seeds to the Binuangan Lourdes Eagles Club (BLEC) at the DA-RFO-10 compound, July 19.
Over 80 packets of vegetable (Pinakbet) seeds funded under the High-Value Crops Development Program were turned over by DA-10 Field Operations Division Chief Luz I. Guzman and High-Value Crops Development Program focal person Kersten S. Pagalan to BLEC Representative Jenefe B. Durotan.
The said provisions will be distributed to two beneficiary sites in Lagonglong town, Misamis Oriental, to aid the organization’s initiatives on backyard gardening for the said community.
The rural community garden aims to provide food accessibility to the locals and cut down on the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during the transportation of food and produce from other parts of the region.
Durotan thanked the Department for its seed provision assistance, citing its impact on their efforts to secure a supply of fresh produce in the area. (DA-10/PIA-10 Misamis Oriental)
